Insiders have shed light on the surprising departure of Josh Kettler, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s chief of staff, just days before the couple’s planned trip to Colombia.
Kettler, a seasoned PR professional, had taken on the role of the Sussexes’ advisor only three months ago, with a mission to help guide Prince Harry through the next chapter of his public life.
Why did the Sussex Chief of Staff resign?
According to People magazine, Kettler’s tenure ended by mutual agreement after it was determined that the fit wasn’t quite right for either party.
This decision comes as Harry and Meghan prepare to embark on a significant trip to Colombia, where they are expected to visit key locations such as Bogotá, Cartagena, and Cali.
Despite the timing, sources close to the couple insist that Kettler’s exit had nothing to do with the upcoming tour.
During his brief stint, Kettler was notably present with Prince Harry during a visit to London to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games.
Additionally, Kettler played a key part in their recent three-day tour of Nigeria, which was another important event in their ongoing work.
As for the Colombia trip, it is being organized at the invitation of the country’s Vice President, Francia Márquez.
The Vice President expressed her excitement about the visit, stating, “I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.”
Márquez also highlighted the importance of Harry and Meghan’s visit, as it precedes the first Global Ministerial Conference to End Violence against Children, which will take place in Colombia next November.
Márquez highlighted the important work being done by the Archewell Foundation, founded by the Duke and Duchess, especially in promoting safer online environments for children.
Kettler’s departure follows another notable resignation last month, when Dominic Reid, chief executive of the Invictus Games Foundation, stepped down from his role.
As Harry and Meghan move forward with their plans, it remains to be seen how these changes will affect their team.
