It seems that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have found a way to remain in Netflix’s orbit, albeit with a new twist.
It is a “first look deal,” which means that the platform will have priority to view and decide on their future projects, but there is no longer talk of the millions of dollars that marked their first contract.
A different step, perhaps more realistic, but one that keeps them in the game.
In a statement issued to Newsweek, Meghan made it clear that they are excited about the idea of expanding their collaboration, now also with the As Ever brand.
She said that she and Harry are inspired by the Netflix team and their own production company, Archewell, to create content that connects with audiences globally. For many, it’s an elegant way of saying: we’re continuing, but with new cards on the table.
Netflix’s head of content, Bela Bajaria, was equally diplomatic. She recalled that their documentary series Harry & Meghan became one of the platform’s most-watched titles and that the recent production With Love, Meghan has also won over fans, with products selling out in record time.
In short, they see a future in this partnership and, although the format may change, the door remains open.
