In a gesture of solidarity that transcends past differences, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, have joined the global outpouring of support following the announcement of Princess Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis.
Despite the obvious distance and differences that have marked recent times, the California-based couple have sent a message of support to the Princess of Wales.
Meghan and Harry’s message to Princess Kate
In a short, punchy message that barely exceeds 20 words, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle want to make it clear that they support Princess Kate.
“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace,” the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said in a statement shared with Express on Friday.
The message reflects a moment of family unity and support, recalling the last joint public appearance of Meghan, Harry, Kate and William in Windsor, in a surprise walkabout after the death of Queen Elizabeth II in September 2022.
The relationship between siblings Harry and William has been the subject of speculation and commentary, especially after the Duke of Sussex shared details of disagreements and internal conflicts.
There was a time, however, when Harry, along with Kate and William, showed great camaraderie and unity at every public appearance, underscoring the importance of family bonds in times of adversity.
Now, from their home in California, Harry and Meghan have chosen to put aside their differences and extend their best wishes to Kate, emphasizing their hope for privacy and peace during her treatment and recovery.
Princess Kate released a video message to share that following her abdominal surgery in January, post-operative tests “found cancer had been present.”
The Princess of Wales explained that she is in the “early stages” of a course of preventative chemotherapy and that she and Prince William took time to explain the situation to their children, Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, before making the public announcement.
