A new book bombshell claims Kate and Meghan were given “gentle pushes” to emulate the late Princess Diana’s style.
Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle apparently felt subtle pressure from the royal institution to pay homage to the People’s Princess through their fashion choices.
Kate and Meghan copied Princess Diana’s styling.
In an excerpt published by Page Six, taken from Omid Scobie’s book “Endgame,” the author recounts insider information that suggests deliberate efforts to style Kate and Meghan after Diana’s iconic looks.
Scobie spoke to a source close to Princes William and Harry who claimed that comparisons between the two duchesses and Diana were “always discussed” with the brothers.
The insider noted that there were even instances where Diana’s previous outfits were referenced to generate ideas.
While seen by some as an affectionate tribute, Scobie argues that this approach left Kate and Meghan uncomfortable, reducing them to tools to channel the glamour and popularity Diana still holds in the public imagination.
According to the source, the royal family hoped that Diana’s magic would “rub off” on them through her style, despite the fact that the very system contributed greatly to her personal problems.
Beyond these alleged coordination efforts, both William and Harry have actively worked to keep their mother’s memory alive, making sure to tell stories of “Grandma Diana” to their respective children.
Kate and Meghan have paid tribute to Diana through sentimental jewelry such as their engagement rings. Meghan’s ring was specially designed by Prince Harry with diamonds from his late mother’s collection.
However, if Scobie’s report proves accurate, it suggests a more calculating side to all the tributes to Diana, with the Duchess of Sussex and Princess of Wales’ fashion choices not entirely their own.

Diana chose a style in earth tones for one of her visits to Wales in 1981. In Meghan’s case, she chose a very similar style with a Miu Miu coat and headdress for her first Christmas with the Royal Family.
