Meghan Markle is working on a new film adaptation that promises to capture the public’s attention.
It is Meet Me at the Lake, a hit literary romance by Carley Fortune, the rights to which were acquired in 2023 by her production company, Archewell Productions, for $3.5 million.

The project, which will be exclusive to Netflix, is still in the development stage and has not received the final go-ahead for production.
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s head of content, confirmed to MailOnline that the adaptation is in the works. “It is a great book, she had it and we are happy to do it,” she said, hinting at the platform’s enthusiasm for the project.
Although a release date has not been announced, the anticipation around the film is already noticeable.
The story of Meet Me at the Lake revolves around Fern Brookbanks, who has spent much of her adult life thinking about Will Baxter, an idealistic artist with whom she had a chance encounter in her youth.
Years later, Fern finds herself managing her mother’s resort in Muskoka, and Will reappears in her life offering to help her. The novel explores themes of love, redemption and second chances.
It is undoubtedly a great romance novel that became an instant best-seller and one that some royal fans see a parallel to the life of Meghan Markle, who met Prince Harry in 2016 and married him in 2018.
The interest in this new project seeks to build on the success of her documentary Harry & Meghan, which broke records on the platform.
Now, Meghan’s production company is betting on a fictional story that many can relate to.
Bajaria also assured that Netflix trusts them and anticipates that Meghan’s next show, With Love, Meghan, which will premiere on March 4, will be a huge success.
With anticipation growing and Netflix’s backing, the adaptation of Meet Me at the Lake could cement itself as another milestone in Meghan Markle’s filmmaking career.
