Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have once again appeared as caricatures as they get the parody treatment on Family Guy.
The animated versions of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex appeared in a recent episode where they ridiculed the couple’s Netflix deals and social media presence.
Although intended as satire, the cameo underscores the immense fascination and visibility that continues to surround the royal couple after stepping down from their royal duties.
Meghan and Harry on Family Guy
In the segment, cartoon Harry and Meghan relax poolside in swimsuits as a butler approaches and says:
“Sir, your millions from Netflix for…no one knows what.” Harry replies, “Put it with the rest of them.”
All this alluding to the production partnership the Duke and Duchess have with the streaming giant.
The scene also teases Meghan’s Instagram prowess, when a phone notification rings and the duchess’ character says:
“Babe, time to do our daily $250,000 sponsored Instagram post for Del Taco.”
To which Harry’s character replies, “I shouldn’t have left the made-up nonsense.”
Of course, the joke glosses over the fact that Meghan no longer maintains public social media accounts after shutting down her platforms as a royal.
However, her savvy use of Instagram and her former blog The Tig before joining the royal family still earns her the “influencer” tag.
In a 2021 interview with The Cut magazine, Meghan claimed she had considered returning to Instagram, especially to complement her podcast Archetypes.
However, so far that has not happened, although the alleged user of Meghan Markle’s Instagram account had recently been revealed.
Harry and Meghan in South Park: “Worldwide Privacy Tour”
This is not the first time that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been parodied in a cartoon. In February they appeared in the 26th season of South Park.
The irreverent animated series poked fun at the couple, although they did not use Meghan and Harry’s names.
In the episode, Harry is played by a red-haired supposed “prince of Canada” and his wife, wears the exact same outfit Meghan wore in 2018 for her first Trooping the Colour.
In the episode titled “The Worldwide Privacy Tour,” the prince is promoting a book called “Waaaagh,” a clear reference to “Spare.”
Family Guy is now getting in on the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle mockery. Even Hollywood doesn’t know why Netflix is paying them any money!! Hysterical! pic.twitter.com/olD7SsMTAv
