A series of revelations have come to light. Alleged tensions between Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham have been exposed in a new book.
“The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power,” authored by Tom Bower, explores the dynamics between the Beckhams and the Sussexes, shedding light on where their relationship began to fray.
Bower, a former journalist, suggests that the Duchess of Sussex admired and wanted to emulate the renowned fashion icon.
Meghan Markle and Victoria Beckham’s Tensions
According to the book, Meghan requested complimentary clothes and handbags from Victoria while she was engaged to Prince Harry.
However, these requests were “vetoed by the Palace for being against their rules,” as Bower notes.
The biography further claims that Meghan became “irritated” upon learning about Victoria’s significant wealth.
Reports in the Mirror indicate that Meghan was frustrated to realize that the Beckhams were far wealthier than she was.
Bower pinpoints the start of the tensions to 2018. Despite the Beckhams attending Harry and Meghan’s wedding, they were not invited to the wedding dinner, marking an early sign of the cooling friendship.
The book also highlights a noticeable shift last spring when the Sussexes were excluded from Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding guest list, while Prince William and Kate Middleton were included.
In his book released on June 20, Tom Bower elaborates on Meghan Markle’s frustration with the Beckhams’ social standing.
Tom writes, “In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame. As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal Family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order.”
Bower continues, “She was irritated to discover that the Beckhams had considerably more wealth than herself. They owned five homes, had constant access to private jets, invitations to sail on yachts, and much more money. And she was soon to be a duchess.”
Despite Victoria offering Meghan beauty tips for her new life in London, the friendship suffered a blow when The Sun published an article suggesting Victoria had leaked these tips to the press.
Meghan reportedly felt betrayed and suspected that Victoria was the source of the leak.
