Rumors recently circulated about Meghan Markle signing a lucrative multi-million dollar deal with Audible, Amazon’s audiobook and podcast company.
However, a spokesperson for Audible has given a statement that was picked up by Closer UK, where he has made clear the company’s position before this rumor.
Meghan Markle and Audible reach multi-million dollar deal?
The informant has clearly assured that “There is no truth to the reports and Audible is not in negotiations with Meghan Markle”.
The denial comes after several media outlets reported that the Duchess of Sussex was on the verge of closing a deal with Audible worth even more than her previous $20 million deal with Spotify.
Sources claimed that the potential deal with Audible could result in a “huge payday” for Meghan and that she was excited to belong to the company.
Meghan’s partnership with Spotify ended abruptly in June 2023, after releasing only a series of 12 podcasts for “Archetypes.”
Spotify executive Bill Simmons referred to Meghan and Prince Harry as “f****** grifters” following the dissolution of their business deal. These statements laid bare the tensions in their partnership.
The Duchess has been exploring new business ventures after retiring from her royal duties. In April she signed a contract with elite talent agency WME, sparking speculation about her return to Hollywood and return to social media.
Meghan and Harry’s production deal with Netflix, estimated at $100 million, has been more successful than their contract with Spotify.
They premiered their Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan” in late 2022 and Harry’s show “Heart of Invictus” hit the platform last month.
It has also been rumored that the couple would have plans to produce a romantic movie based on the book Meet Me at the Lake, but so far these are just rumors.
For now, the deal between Meghan and Audible also remains rumored. The duchess’ rep has not commented further on her future plans.
