Meghan Markle surprised her more than 1 million followers on her new Instagram account, by posting a touching video, where she says goodbye to her beloved dog Guy.
The Duchess of Sussex, visibly affected by the loss, wanted to pay tribute to the faithful companion who accompanied her in the most important moments of her life.
“Thank you for so many years of unconditional love, my sweet Guy. You filled my life in ways you’ll never know,” Meghan wrote in an emotional message that accompanied the video.

In the clip, a compilation of Guy’s endearing moments with the family can be seen.
It features scenes of Meghan playing with him, walks around the stables in the company of Prince Harry and their son Archie, and a tender picnic outdoors with little Lilibet.
The video ends with the voices of Archie and Lilibet singing a song dedicated to their pet.
Guy, Meghan Markle’s beagle dog
Meghan told, that Guy’s story began in 2015, when she adopted him from a kennel in Canada.
The dog had been rescued from a kill shelter in Kentucky, where he only had a few days left to live.
As told by the duchess herself, she saw him, fell in love with him and decided to take him home. She named him Guy, in reference to how he was nicknamed at the shelter, “the little boy ”, due to his fragile and delicate appearance.
Since then, he became her inseparable companion, even before her life took a turn when she met Prince Harry.
“He was with me for everything: the quiet, the chaos, the calm, the comfort,” Meghan recalled.
However, not everything was simple in the little beagle’s life. Shortly before moving to the UK, he suffered a serious accident that left him on the verge of never walking again.
The Duchess said that it was months of surgeries and intensive care, but thanks to the work of Dr. Noel Fitzpatrick and his team, whom Meghan thanked in the emotional video, Guy managed to recover.
Now, with the premiere of her new cooking show on Netflix, ‘With Love, Meghan’, in which the dog appears in several scenes, the duchess wanted to share this sad news with all those who knew Guy through social networks or her former blog The Tig.
For Meghan, it is very important to explain why her loss has been so painful and to make clear the fundamental role her pet played in her life.
“I have cried too many tears to count – the type of tears that make you get in the shower with the absurd hope that the running water on your face will somehow make you not feel them, or pretend they’re not there. But they are. And that’s okay too,” wrote the Duchess in a message that reflects the deep emotional connection she had with her faithful friend, Guy.
