Meghan Markle has decided to perpetuate one of the most beloved royal traditions: passing down precious family heirlooms from generation to generation.
Just as Princess Diana once did, Meghan plans to reserve a very special object for her daughter, Lilibet, who will receive it as an heirloom when she turns 18.
Meghan Markle’s Cartier watch to be inherited by Lilibet
It is an elegant two-tone Cartier Tank watch, which Markle acquired in 2015, during an important stage of her career as an actress and which we have discussed here RoyalFamily.news.
“I’ve wanted to have the French Cartier Tank watch for a long time,” Meghan confessed in an interview with Hello! shortly after purchasing it.
She explained that after the confirmation of the third season of the Suits series, she decided to treat herself:
“It was such a milestone that I couldn’t resist and bought the two-tone version, “she revealed.
The most touching detail is the personalized engraving on the back of the watch: “To M.M. From M.M.”, a nod that reinforces the sentimental value of the piece.
Although at the time Meghan had not yet met Prince Harry and had no plans to start a family, she had already imagined that the watch might one day pass into the hands of her future daughter.
Years later, in 2022, Meghan was seen wearing another Cartier Tank watch, but this time one with an even deeper meaning: the watch that belonged to Princess Diana, a gift from Harry to his wife.
This jewel, which is currently worth close to $9,000, is rarely parted from Meghan’s wrist and symbolizes Diana’s legacy in her life.
Since she was spotted wearing the iconic accessory at a reception during the Invictus Games, the link between these precious pieces and the Windsor family has become even more meaningful.
When the time comes, Lilibet will not only inherit a luxury object, but also a family history full of meaning and emotional connections.
