Meghan Markle is well aware of what divorce means. Long before she became Duchess of Sussex, she was married to Trevor Engelson.

Engelson had a seven-year relationship with Meghan before culminating in marriage and divorce.

Six years of dating between Meghan and Trevor led the couple to marry on September 10, 2011, in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

    Meghan Markle’s divorce

Meghan Markle and Trevor Engelson enjoyed a newlywed life for 18 months before the Duchess of Sussex experienced divorce in 2013.

Although their brief love story has been kept in the utmost secrecy, it is only known that the split was due to “irreconcilable differences.”

Meghan Markle’s divorce was finally finalized in August 2014. Rumors point out that the marriage was affected due to the constant absence of Markle, who often traveled to Canada for the filming of the TV series “Suits”, in which she starred.

According to biographer Andrew Morton, in his book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” Engelson remembers their marriage negatively.

The relationship ended so badly that the actress returned her diamond engagement ring to her husband by mail, which drew Engelson’s ire.

Still, since his divorce with Meghan Markle, Trevor has not spoken about his failed relationship with the duchess.

While Meghan and Trevor’s long distance and divergent priorities contributed to their divorce, two years after their legal divorce, Meghan met Prince Harry.

Seeing each other every 15 days and being separated by an ocean of distance seemed to be a non-issue for her at the beginning of their relationship.

Just over two years into their courtship, in May 2018, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot.

They are now proud parents to Archie, 4, and Lilibet, 2.

Archie was born in England, while Lili was born in the United States.

Since the couple settled in Montecito, California, they have gone through different stages in their post-royalty lives.

    Divorce Rumors Pursue Meghan Markle

In early 2023, rumors began circulating that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were growing apart.

The first to speak out about Meghan Markle’s alleged divorce was Lady Colin Campbell, renowned writer and socialite.

In an interview with GBNews, Lady C claimed that Prince Harry had contacted divorce lawyers due to the growing conflicts in his marriage to Meghan Markle.

The writer claimed that she had heard from five totally reliable sources that Harry called divorce lawyers.

Reports then surfaced that the Duke of Sussex sought moments of solitude in a reserved room at a Montecito hotel near his mansion and occasionally stayed at the hotel without his wife’s company.

Speculation grew as the days passed and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made no appearances together.

Since the beginning of 2023, Meghan let Harry promote his memoir ‘Spare’ alone.

The Prince was traveling to London for his legal trials without his wife’s company, which fueled rumors of a marital crisis.

In May, the couple reappeared in New York at the Ms. Foundation 2023 Women of Vision Awards. Foundation 2023 Women of Vision Awards, which quelled Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s divorce rumors.

Recently, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were seen in close contact at the Invictus Games held in Germany.
