Before Meghan Markle became a household name thanks to her role as Rachel Zane on Suits, she had a humble, uncredited start in television that has recently come to light.
Meghan’s first-ever appearance on screen was in the beloved U.S. sitcom Married… with Children, a show with which she had a special connection.

In 1995, at just around 14 years old, Meghan appeared in an episode titled The Undergraduate, playing a small background role.
This long-forgotten cameo has resurfaced in recent years, almost three decades after the show’s finale, surprising fans who were delighted to spot the future Duchess of Sussex in her early days.
Interestingly, Meghan’s connection to Married… with Children runs deeper than just a brief appearance. Her father, Thomas Markle, worked on the show for 10 seasons, first as a lighting director and later as the director of photography.
Growing up, Meghan spent a significant amount of time on set, which, according to her, was a rather unusual experience for a young girl.
In a 2018 interview with Esquire, Meghan reflected on those days, saying: “Every day after school for 10 years, I was on the set of Married… with Children. It was a really funny and bizarre place for a little girl in a Catholic school uniform to be hanging out.”
She added that her dad would sometimes suggest she leave the set when things got too inappropriate for her age.
While she was not allowed to watch the series at home, Meghan fondly remembered watching the end credits just to spot her dad’s name, proudly giving the screen a kiss when it appeared.
This early experience on Married… with Children was just the start of Meghan’s journey into Hollywood. Her career would later take off with roles in films and TV shows, including her iconic stint on Suits from 2011 to 2018.
Despite stepping away from acting after marrying Prince Harry, Meghan’s ties to the entertainment world are far from severed. Together with Harry, she has ventured into producing content for Netflix, including their documentary series.
