The detractors of Meghan Markle, 41, think she is lying and does not believe the version in which she claims she never used Google to learn more about the British royal family before marrying Prince Harry, 38.
The former American actress has claimed on several occasions that she never searched the Internet for information about Harry, or the other members of the royal family.
Article summary
In the interview the Duke and Duchess of Sussex gave to Oprah Winfrey in 2021, Meghan said that being an American, she did not know what being part of the British Royal Family would entail.
In the same interview, Meghan did state that the only thing she looked up on the internet was the English hymn and the prayers needed for Mass. For the British press, there are contradictions in the statements of Prince Harry’s wife.
Meghan Markle Lies
For Meghan Markle’s detractors, I have found it hard to believe that Prince Harry did not tell his future wife about his family before they got married.
In the controversial Netflix documentary ‘Henry and Meghan’, details of how they met were revealed and there the Duchess of Sussex claimed that she did not investigate Harry after they started writing private messages to each other on Instagram.
Meghan preferred to know more about Harry by looking at his Instagram profile than to look for information about him on the internet.
“Let’s see what his Instagram feed is all about. Not what they say about him, but what he posts about himself,” Meghan Markle revealed.
Prince Harry revealed in an episode in his memoir that Meghan believed Prince Andrew was Queen Elizabeth’s assistant.
“It was clear he hadn’t Google us,” Harry said.
For the British press, Meghan’s comment in which she claimed not to have searched for information about her future husband seems hardly credible.
Meghan Markle’s blog
Before Meghan Markle was part of the British Royal Family she had a blog called ‘The Tig’, where she published articles that were related to current affairs and lifestyles. What is curious is that, in one post, Meghan talked about the royal wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The Daily Mail has rescued the controversial post that was published in 2014, where Meghan makes a brief reference to Kate Middleton, which would demolish the theory of an alleged ignorance of the Windsor family.
“Little girls dream of being princesses. I, for one, was all about She-Ra, Princess of Power. And grown women seem to retain this childhood fantasy. Just look at the pomp and circumstance surrounding the royal wedding and endless conversation about Princess Kate.” she says at the beginning of an article.
For Meghan’s detractors, the information is relevant to disprove the theory of total ignorance about Prince Harry’s family.
What is clear in that fragment is that Meghan did not have much idea of the roles and titles of the British Royal Family since at that time Kate was Duchess of Cambridge.
