After four years away from British soil, Meghan Markle may be about to end her absence.
The Duchess of Sussex plans to accompany Harry to Birmingham in July for the 2027 Invictus Games countdown event. But there is a significant “but.” It all depends on whether the security they are requesting is approved. And that’s where things get complicated.

Harry has been fighting for years to receive police protection funded by British taxpayers when he visits the country. He lost that automatic right when he stepped down as an active royal in 2020 and relocated to California.
Last year, he lost his legal battle and called it a “classic establishment conspiracy.” Now Ravec, the committee responsible for these decisions, is reviewing his case for the first time in six years.

Sources close to the Sussexes say they are almost certain to receive approval, but no official decision has been made yet. It is expected to arrive this month.
If all goes well, Meghan will be in Birmingham on July 10th for the one-year celebration of the games Harry created for wounded soldiers. She has attended similar events in Canada and Germany, so it makes sense for her to go to this one.

Her last visit to the United Kingdom was in September 2022, for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II. Her children, Archie and Lilibet, have not returned since the Platinum Jubilee in June 2022, when Meghan was booed upon arriving for a service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. It’s unclear if the children will attend this time.
