Meghan Markle’s latest venture with Netflix, the lifestyle series With Love, Meghan, has struggled to capture audiences in the same way as her previous project alongside Prince Harry.
While the eight-part series managed to enter Netflix’s Top 10 upon its release, its viewership numbers fell significantly short when compared to Harry & Meghan, the tell-all docuseries that aired in 2022.
Meghan Markle’s Netflix show sees low viewership
The Duchess of Sussex premiered her solo project on March 4, offering a glimpse into her take on entertaining and home living.
According to Samba TV, With Love, Meghan attracted 526,000 households in its first five days—a stark contrast to Harry & Meghan, which reached 2.1 million households within the same timeframe.
The data suggests that viewers seem to prefer seeing Meghan alongside Prince Harry rather than in a solo endeavor.
Despite the lower numbers, the series found an audience, particularly among viewers aged 45 to 54.
It also performed best in Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia, while its presence in key markets like the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada was short-lived.
The show trended in these regions for only a few days before slipping out of Netflix’s Top 10 by the weekend.
Netflix, however, appears to be satisfied with the series’ performance. Just last week, the streaming giant confirmed that With Love, Meghan has been renewed for a second season.
This decision aligns with the $100 million deal that the Sussexes signed with Netflix in 2020, which has so far produced multiple projects.
Their biggest success remains Harry & Meghan, the intimate docuseries that detailed their departure from royal duties and their new life in California.
Other productions under their partnership include Live to Lead, a documentary highlighting influential figures like Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Greta Thunberg, as well as Heart of Invictus, which followed athletes preparing for Prince Harry’s Invictus Games.
In December, Harry also released a documentary titled Polo, which received a lukewarm response due to the Duke of Sussex’s minimal involvement.
While With Love, Meghan may not have achieved the blockbuster success of her previous Netflix projects, its renewal signals that the platform still sees potential in Meghan’s solo ventures.
Whether future seasons can boost viewership remains to be seen.
