Meghan Markle’s relationship with the rest of her family is quite complex. The television actress distanced herself from her father when he began to sell images and information to the tabloids before her wedding, nor does she get along well with her half-siblings, Thomas and Samantha. However, with whom she does have an important bond is with her niece Ashleigh Hale.
The young woman appeared in the first part of the Netflix documentary ‘Harry & Meghan’, she was the only relative of the actress, apart from her mother, who agreed to participate in the docuseries where the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tell their version of their passage through the British royal family.

Ashleigh Hale, 37, is Meghan’s niece and daughter of Samantha Markle, the Duchess’ controversial half-sister who has lashed out at Prince Harry’s wife on more than one occasion.
Ashleigh was raised by her paternal grandparents and regained contact with her mother in 2007. Meghan recounted in the Netflix docuseries that her father Thomas Markle told her about Ashleigh’s reconciliation with Samantha. Meghan contacted her niece by email. From there they formed a close bond that developed into a great friendship.
“I think we both longed for the same thing. I wanted a sister and she was like a little sister,” said the Duchess.

Hale works as an immigration attorney. It was also learned that works for a law firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Why didn’t Ashleigh Hale attend Meghan and Harry’s wedding?
Ashleigh was not invited to the royal wedding because of comments her mother Samantha made to the press about Meghan and Harry. The Sussex’s communications representative advised them not to invite the young woman to their wedding.
It would be difficult for the former actress to explain why her niece was invited to the wedding and not her sister Samantha, so they ultimately decided she would also be excluded.
“To know that it was because of my birth mother that this relationship that is so important to me was affected in that way…. Feeling like it was because of her…. It’s been hard,” Ashleigh shared in the documentary series.
The attorney recounted that while it was painful not to share that important day with her aunt, she understood the reason for not attending.
Is Ashleigh still in touch with her mother Samantha?
Meghan Markle’s niece told the documentary series that she has no contact with her mother. Apparently Samantha feels a lot of resentment towards Meghan and that caused her to distance herself.
“I felt like no matter what she said, you know, her perspective didn’t change and she seemed to get angrier and angrier. And we stopped talking,” the young woman recounted.
There is no doubt that the way Ashleigh refers to her aunt in the docuseries reveals that there is a close and fraternal relationship between them.
