A palace aide has stated in a new book that Meghan Markle was not the influence behind Prince Harry’s decision to leave the British royal family to start a new life in the United States.
As revealed by veteran royal reporter Robert Jobson in his book “Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed”, it was Prince Harry himself who was the “Driving Force” responsible for the Sussex’s departure from the royals in 2020 and not Meghan Markle as many believe.

Was Meghan to blame for alienating Harry from his family?
While many have blamed Meghan for influencing Harry, the truth is that the duke played a major role in the decision, a palace aide told Jobson.
“‘Some blame Meghan Markle for the fallout, ignoring the fact that Harry seems to be the driving force in everything that happened.'” the aide said, according to an excerpt from the published book quoted by Newsweek.
“‘There was a point when officials joked Harry was the victim of Stockholm syndrome, and he was Meghan’s hostage, but now most just feel Harry has turned his back on everything he has known.'”
After their estrangement from the monarchy, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have given several interviews, have made millionaire deals for Meghan to release a podcast, both made a docuseries and Harry has released his memoirs, in all these projects have expressed their dissatisfaction with the royal family, their advisors, and the British press.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stripped of their royal titles
Against this backdrop, high-profile critics have called for Meghan and Harry to be stripped of their titles as Duke and Duchess of Sussex. According to Jobson, these views have found sympathy in royal circles, to the point of debate on the issue.
“The idea of stripping Harry of his Duke of Sussex title has been discussed at the highest level,” the author wrote. “The King is said not to be in favor, but other senior Royals are less indulgent.”
