While some fans are excited about this new venture, others have criticized it, accusing Meghan of monetizing her royal title.
In her Instagram Story, Meghan shared the news with her followers, saying, “Many of you have asked, so here you go! A little shopping to start the week. More to come. Link in bio.”
Meghan described her new page as a “handpicked and curated collection of the things I love,” inviting her followers to shop some of her favorite designer items, including pieces she wore during her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan.
The collection features high-end items such as a $1,415 Loro Piana cashmere sweater, a $1,350 Heidi Merrick dress, and a $500 necklace from Maya Brenner, made in collaboration with her Suits co-star Abigail Spencer.
Most of the items are in neutral shades, and many come with hefty price tags.
However, Meghan’s new venture has drawn mixed reactions online.
Some critics feel uncomfortable with the idea of a royal title being used to promote products, especially given the current financial challenges many people are facing.
One person on social media remarked, “Do people need another celebrity selling them things they don’t need at this moment in our country’s financial status?” Another user wrote, “I can’t believe she is allowed to get away with monetizing the monarchy.”
On the other hand, some have defended Meghan’s decision, pointing out that she’s using her platform in a smart way to generate income.
One supporter pointed out, “Meghan Sussex is now providing outfit details. This is so smart since now she can use her large social media reach to strike deals with these brands.”
The backlash has also focused on the fact that Meghan labeled her page with her royal title, “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,” this has only added fuel to the fire, with some accusing her of using her royal status for financial gain.
