Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been received with great enthusiasm in Colombia, marking the start of their visit on August 15.
The first stop on their tour was a meeting with Vice President Francia Marquez and her husband, Rafael Yerney Pinillo, who offered them a warm welcome.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited to the Vice President’s official residence, where they enjoyed a pleasant chat accompanied by coffee, tea and the traditional pan de bono, a delicious cheese bread typical of Colombia.
During this approximately 30-minute meeting, Marquez expressed her affinity with Meghan and Harry’s ideals and goals, especially as they relate to creating a safer digital environment and promoting mental health. In addition, the vice president did not hesitate to share her admiration for Princess Diana, Harry’s mother, according to local media reports.
What Meghan Markle wore in Colombia
For this first official engagement, Meghan chose an elegant navy blue suit by Veronica Beard, which she paired with sophisticated black heels by Manolo Blahnik.
Her look was completed with a white leather handbag by Loro Piana and black sunglasses by Ray-Ban, which added a modern touch.
For his part, Prince Harry opted for a dark blue suit that harmonized perfectly with Meghan’s outfit, paired with a bright blue Brioni shirt.
On their first day in Colombia, the couple will also visit a school for a learning session and then participate in a summit that will bring together experts, activists and community members working to create more positive digital environments.
On August 16, Meghan and Harry will continue their visit in Bogota, where they will meet with students to discuss emotional well-being in education. They will also attend a luncheon hosted by Vice President Marquez and meet with competitors in Colombia’s Invictus Games.
In addition to their time in the capital, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are scheduled to visit Cartagena and Cali, where they will continue to further the causes they promote through their Archewell Foundation, which is dedicated to creating safer digital spaces.
This visit to Colombia is in preparation for the first Global Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence against Children, which will be held in the country in November.
Meghan and Harry, through their foundation, seek to actively contribute to this important issue, reaffirming their commitment to the protection and well-being of the most vulnerable.
