The calm that Meghan Markle thought she had in her life has come to an end. Her sister, Samantha Markle, has decided to sue her.
Almost a year after the controversial broadcast of Oprah Winfrey’s show with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Meghan’s half-sister sued her for “the lies she told on the show.”
Meghan Markle sued by sister
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s controversial statements to Oprah about their experiences with the monarchy not only left Harry in trouble with his already estranged family, but now Meghan will also have to answer for her statements.
As it became known, Meghan’s half-sister, 57, handed over documents in a U.S. court. In the papers she claims that the Duchess of Sussex offered “false and malicious statements” during the interview and also in the biography ‘Finding Freedom’.
He accused the actress of lying when she claimed they had “no relationship” and were “practically strangers”. He also accused her of not being completely honest about her former relationship with Harry.
“She created a lucrative career by peddling false stories to tabloids and TV shows when she apparently knows nothing about the defendant’s childhood,” he said. Samantha is also seeking damages of $75,000 and payment for her lawyers.
For his part, Michael Kump, lawyer for the actress, confirmed the lawsuit and described it as “absurd”.
“This absurd and baseless lawsuit. It is simply the continuation of a pattern of disturbing behavior. We will give it the minimum necessary attention, as it deserves no more,” the jurist said.
This is not the first time Samantha has lashed out at Meghan whom she has repeatedly accused of lying about her life.
