Meghan of Sussex By Lillian Torres

Meghan Markle’s winter look sends a message to Kate Middleton?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle traveled to Canada to show their support for veterans who will compete in the Invictus Games 2025, a winter sports competition for wounded and ill military personnel.

The royal couple, who announced their participation through their Archewell Foundation, visited the cities of Vancouver and Whistler, where the games will be held next year.

Harry and Meghan, who left their two children in California, joined participants and coaches at the training camp, where they shared experiences and encouragement.

The couple also took the opportunity to meet with representatives of Western Canadian First Nations, to whom they expressed their respect and admiration.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s trip, which was documented by their own film crew, was not without controversy.

That was because of the coat Meghan wore on their first day in Canada, when they visited the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre with youth ambassadors Chief Nelson and Wilson Williams.

There, the couple met with the young artists who designed the Invictus Games logo.

Meghan wore an elegant black coat by Dôen, which she paired with black pants by Anine Bing and a Christian Dior shirt.

The coat, which cost $600, had one detail that did not go unnoticed: it was called Kensington, the same name as the palace where Princes William and Kate lived. It is also the name of the office in charge of the reporting of all details about the couple.

Many interpreted the gesture as a veiled message from the Duchess of Sussex to the Princess of Wales, who is recovering from abdominal surgery.

Was it a coincidence or a provocation? Some media speculated that Meghan wanted to send a message of defiance to the royal family, with whom she has had a strained relationship since stepping down from her official duties.

Others, however, saw it as a simple coincidence or a sign of good taste.

The truth is, Meghan’s coat raised more eyebrows than the couple’s support for veterans, which was the main purpose of their trip.

Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus Games in 2014, did not visit his brother William during his recent trip to London after  the diagnosis of their father, King Charles, who is suffering from cancer.

The decision was seen as a sign of the deep rift between the two brothers, who appear to have severed all contact with no chance of mending it.
