Jane Barr, writing in the From Berkshire to Buckingham newsletter, argued that Harry and Meghan’s idea of being “half in, half out” with their Royal duties wouldn’t have worked.
Barr suggested, “Meghan wouldn’t have been happy with a quiet or truly independent life like William and Harry’s cousins. Harry was not just the Queen’s grandson, but also the son of the future King. William and Harry were always important Royals, while their cousins were considered secondary and faded from the spotlight over time. Harry seems bitter about being the spare, but he has always been more important than his cousins and treated as such.”
Barr continued, explaining that Harry and Meghan’s situation is different because, unlike Beatrice and Eugenie who have normal jobs without high-profile deals, “Meghan wanted to use her title to become a superstar on the international stage, separate from the control of the Crown.”
Lucrative Netflix deal
As part of their Netflix deal, Meghan and Harry are creating content.
Meghan is working on a lifestyle and cooking series, while Harry is developing a documentary about polo, his favorite sport.
Reports suggest that production for Meghan’s show has started in Montecito, and cameras have been seen at polo matches Harry participated in recently.

Royal expert Duncan Larcombe claimed Meghan is often stealing the spotlight from Harry, which fits Harry’s role as “second fiddle.”
Larcombe explained, “Meghan is very strong, driven, and ambitious, which means she will usually outshine Harry and grab attention. Harry is entirely in her shadow and has never been comfortable with the attention. Meghan is definitely a magnet for it.”
He added, “Although Meghan had a lot of expensive outfits on their Nigeria trip, suggesting it might not be an accident that she steals the limelight. Their trip was like ‘The Meghan Show’ with Harry in the background.”
