After a week of exciting activities, the Invictus Games came to a close with a spectacular event at the Merkur Gaming Arena in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The stadium was packed with thousands of spectators who turned out in the late afternoon of Saturday 16 September to witness the Closing Ceremony. Harry, the creator of the Games, kicked off the celebrations with a speech full of emotion and gratitude.
Closing of the 2023 Invictus Games
Speaking in German, Harry thanked everyone for their dedication and commitment throughout the week-long competition.
In the audience, a proud Meghan Markle applauded her husband and showed her affection by giving him a tender kiss on the shoulder at the end of his speech.
Before his speech, Harry was seated next to Elke Budenbender, the wife of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
Throughout the event, Harry chatted animatedly with members of the various teams, as well as with Meghan.
Meghan Markle’s turquoise dress by Cult Gaia
To close the Games, the Duchess of Sussex wore an elegant turquoise Raylene dress by Cult Gaia, priced at $798 and already sold out, according to the brand’s website.
The dress, which featured a straight midi skirt and strapless neckline, was decorated with laser cut floral motifs.
Meghan accessorised her outfit with $695 Aquazzura leather pumps and $736 Kimaï diamond earrings. She also wore a Cartier bracelet valued at over $5,000.
With her hair up, Meghan shone like a true Hollywood star, allowing her gorgeous dress to steal the spotlight.
One notable detail was that Meghan and Harry left the venue before the end of the Closing Ceremony, which included performances by singer Rita Ora and Eurovision Song Contest finalist Sam Ryder.
There is speculation that the couple decided to leave early to avoid the chaos at the stadium exit and head to California to join their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
That was the end of the Invictus Games in Germany, until the next opportunity for the veterans to meet in competition.
