Princess Leonor turned 18 on October 31, a very special date for the heir to the Spanish throne.
But before celebrating her coming of age, the young lady received a very special gift from one of the world’s most admired actresses: Meryl Streep.
The three-time Oscar winner received the 2023 Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts in recognition of her extraordinary career in film and theater.
And in a gesture of generosity and affection, the Hollywood star wanted to dedicate a few words to Princess Leonor, who presided over the ceremony with her parents and sister.
What did Meryl Streep say to Princess Leonor?
The Princess of Asturias Foundation shared a video on its X account in which Meryl Streep gives advice to the future Queen based on her own life experience.
The actress tells her to never lose the illusion and joy of childhood, which will give her the strength, curiosity and optimism to face the challenges ahead.
At the beginning of the video, the American actress once again summarizes and universalizes the specificity of the experience of growing up and growing older.
“I hope that she never loses the child that she was the day before she’s eighteen (…), because that will take you to seventy-four with a lot of energy and curiosity and optimism for the future”
