With Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s trip to Canada for the Invictus Games just days away, the Duchess of Sussex has once again made an appearance on her Instagram profile with an emotional video.
Meghan returned to social media last January after more than five years of absence.
Her profile, which already has 1.6 million followers, has comments blocked, but the “likes” are visible. So far, she has only posted four times, and her most recent post was on Tuesday, February 4.
Meghan Markle’s New Video on Instagram
In her new video, Prince Harry’s wife addresses the issue of the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
She and Prince Harry visited the affected areas and distributed aid to the victims.
In the video, the Duchess of Sussex can be seen on the verge of tears as she talks about a young victim of the fires she has been trying to help.
“I was just told that something arrived that I had been waiting for,” Meghan begins in her video.
She then explains how she met a woman and her 15-year-old daughter, whose home had been consumed by fire, during her visit to Altadena, California.
Meghan relates, “Her mom shared something with me and said that when they came back to see their house for the first time, which is as we were meeting them, that all that she’d been looking for in her home was the t-shirt from the Billie Eilish concert that she had just gone to that she left in the washing machine or the dryer.”
The Duchess explains that now her home, as well as the washing machine and dryer, are just ashes. But that’s not all; Meghan also shares her determination to help the young girl and her mother.
“I thought of everybody that I knew and I made a voice note and I was like please can someone get this voice note to Billie Eilish,” she says.
Then, full of emotion, she shows the signed items and a lunch box from the singer, adding, “You guys, I don’t even know what all this stuff means, but it’s signed for her.”
To end the clip, Meghan thanks several people who helped make this possible.
“Huge thank you, Billie Eilish. This is going to mean so much to her, and honestly to Adam Levine and Behati, you guys helped get this over the line to everyone who’s showing up for people in big and small ways to get through what’s happened in California.
“Just thank you so much. I’m going to go and email her mom now. Just wanted to share that with you guys.”
The Duchess of Sussex is not only back on social media, but she is also using her platform to make a real difference in the lives of those affected by tragedies, in this case, the devastating fires in Los Angeles.
