Queen Elizabeth II was rarely seen to show her emotions, beyond the usual courtesy in the protocol acts of royalty. However, the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, was able to touch her by giving her a very special gift.

When Barack Obama and his wife Michelle visited Buckingham Palace in 2011, they decided to give Queen Elizabeth II a gift that she would treasure in her heart.

As a very significant member of the former president’s cabinet has now revealed, Queen Elizabeth II  was thrilled to have met Barack Obama and his wife Michelle at Buckingham Palace (in 2011), as they gave her a gift that she now treasures in her heart.

What was Obama’s gift to Queen Elizabeth?

Specifically, the former President of the United States, Barack Obama, gave Queen Elizabeth II a photo album of the trip that the sovereign’s parents, George VI and the Queen Mother Elizabeth, made to the U.S. in 1939.

“The president and the first lady have always been very fond of her (the Queen) and when they learned that she had a very close relationship with her father and that she collected everything that had anything to do with him, we knew we had found a perfect gift for her,’ Capricia Penavic Marshall, who was the White House chief of protocol, told People magazine.

The Obama couple, also gave the queen a striking floral brooch that she frequently used in her attire on very relevant occasions, including in the controversial visit of Donald Trump in the United Kingdom in 2019.

Obama gave the Queen an ipod?

Yes, in 2009 Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, gave Queen Elizabeth II an iPod loaded with dozens of classic show tunes, including several from “Camelot,” based on the King Arthur legend, and “My Fair Lady,” whose story takes place in London. The iPod also includes photos and videos from the Queen’s 2007 visit to Virginia and Washington, footage from Obama’s January 20 swearing-in, and audio of his inaugural address.

In addition, she was presented with a songbook by composers Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart, autographed by Rodgers. When it became known that Obama had given the Queen an iPod, nobody could believe it.
