Oprah Winfrey, the great friend of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, spoke out about the possibility of Harry and Meghan traveling to the United Kingdom for the coronation of King Charles III on May 6, 2023, the same day of the birthday of their son, Prince Archie.
In 2021 Harry and Meghan spoke with the American host and it was the first interview the Duke and Duchess have given since resigning as members of the British royal family.
Oprah on Harry and Meghan
Oprah was on CBS Mornings with Gayle King, who asked her about her opinion of the royal couple attending King Charles’ coronation.
“It’s been reported that Harry and Meghan have received an invitation to the coronation,” King. “Do you think they should go? Do you think they should not go? Is it something you’d like to comment on?”.
Oprah replied, “I think they should do what they feel is best for them and for their family. That’s what I think. That’s what the bottom line — it comes down to: What do you feel like is the best thing for you?”
The TV star, who was invited to the royal wedding in 2018 added that: “They haven’t asked me my opinion.”

Relations between the Sussexes and the royal family have remained strained since the release of the documentary about the couple and the subsequent publication of Prince Harry’s memoir. As a sign of rapprochement, King Charles finally bestowed royal titles on Archie and Lilibet, Meghan and Harry’s children who will finally be treated as prince and princess.
On the coronation, Harry said in an interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby:
“There’s a lot that can happen between now and then. But, you know, the door is always open. The ball is in their court. There’s a lot to be discussed, and I really hope that they are willing to sit down and talk about it”.
The couple confirmed that they received an invitation to attend the coronation, but it is not yet known if they will attend.
