Prince William’s relationship with Kate Middleton has gone through several challenges from William’s infidelity rumors with Rose Hanbury to Prince Harry’s relentless revelations about them.
However, after 12 years of marriage and three children, the couple still retains that spark that has kept them together until now. A body language expert has revealed what’s behind those few, but forceful public displays of affection the couple sometimes have.
What is William and Kate’s relationship like?
At the last garden party at Buckingham Palace held as part of King Charles’ coronation celebration, an affectionate gesture from William to Kate could be seen. The future king placed his arm around his wife in a rare public display of affection for the couple, who traditionally refrain from such gestures due to strict royal protocol.
Judi James, an expert consulted with the Express newspaper, revealed details of what William’s gesture represents.
“William and Kate are never over-demonstrative in public because they have had royal role models like the late Queen and her son Charles who have carried on the tradition of having a more formal approach to PDAs, (public displays of affection) restricting themselves to loving eye contact and subtle touches or truncated touches rather than regular hugs, kisses or hand-holding”.
“Subtle signaling can be as powerful as more overt PDAs because they hint at the levels of love behind the scenes.
She said: “But William is still far more relaxed than ever now that he is closer to the throne and less likely to upset traditional standards.”
This seems to indicate that the future king would be lowering his guard a little in terms of the strict protocol he has followed throughout his life and now he can afford to be more affectionate with his wife in public.
