After spending almost two years in Abu Dhabi, King Juan Carlos I has returned to Spain as he had promised in March in a letter to his son Felipe VI, where he conveyed his desire to return to visit his country sooner rather than later.
The emeritus was captured at the airport of Vigo before heading to Sanxenxo to enjoy the regattas of the Copa del Rey de Vela.

King Juan Carlos arrived in a private plane from Abu Dhabi. At the airport he was received by his friend, Pedro Campos, and his daughter Infanta Elena. The monarch has been seen with difficulty to stand up.
The arrival of Don Juan Carlos to Spain has generated all kinds of comments, and more when it has been confirmed that the father of King Felipe will visit the palace of La Zarzuela next Monday, May 23 before returning to Abu Dhabi, where he took refuge after the constant financial controversies.
It should be noted that this is Juan Carlos’ first trip to Spain after the Prosecutor’s Office closed the investigation against him.
But the emeritus is not safe yet since the British justice has denied him immunity so he could be judged for allegedly harassing his lover, Corinna Larsen.
King Juan Carlos will spend the weekend enjoying the regattas with Infanta Elena and will stay at the home of his friend Pedro Campos, as confirmed by the businessman himself.
