Princess Leonor has finally started to enjoy her time in Brazil. Although it’s not a vacation trip, that hasn’t stopped the daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia from finding a little fun outside of strict military protocol.
At 19 years old, the princess has been capturing the attention of the press with photos of her social outings.
Leonor arrived in Brazil on February 14 as part of her itinerary aboard the ship Juan Sebastian Elcano, where she will continue sailing to several destinations, including Uruguay, Peru, Chile, Colombia, Panama and, finally, New York, as we have already reported here at RoyalFamily.news.
As the Royal Household has rightly pointed out on social networks: “In her first stop in Latin America and only in Brazil, the Princess of Asturias and the other cadets of the training ship Juan Sebastián de Elcano, together with another formation of the Marinha do Brasil, participated in a floral tribute to the fallen members of both Armed Forces at the Fort of Santa Maria in Salvador (Bahia).”
These official engagements are part of a special program to commemorate “the 400th anniversary of the liberation of Salvador de Bahia from Dutch control,” a very significant historical event.
But, apart from the engagements, there is time to have fun.

In the midst of her busy schedule, Princess Leonor has also made time to enjoy the vibrant Brazilian culture.
Social media accounts dedicated to royalty have posted several photos of Leonor enjoying a Carnival party, an iconic event that, although its official celebrations occur at the end of February, is already in full swing in Salvador de Bahia.
The Instagram account, which shared the images, described the moment: “Princess Leonor enjoying a party in Pelourinho in Salvador. Pelourinho is a neighborhood known for parties, music and dancing.”
Specifically, the princess was spotted at the Olodum concert at Praça das Artes, where she joined in the fun with her friends, who are also on board the ship.
Wearing a light and fresh outfit that suits the warm Brazilian weather, Leonor opted for a white top with fabric overlay, several colorful necklaces as accessories, and her hair up to avoid the heat.
A perfect look to go unnoticed in the crowd. It’s a lovely reminder that, despite her position and the expectations that come with it, she is young and wants to enjoy her life.
This Wednesday marks her last day in Brazil, as on Thursday, February 20, Infanta Sofia’s sister will leave for Montevideo.
This trip will offer her unforgettable experiences and, who knows, she may have many more stories to tell when she returns home.
