Piers Morgan has once again called Meghan Markle “a liar,” doubling down on the controversial remarks that led ITV to terminate his position as host of Good Morning Britain last year.
In a recent appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast, Morgan stood by his past dismissal of Markle’s claims about experiencing suicidal thoughts and blamed the Duchess herself for his high-profile exit from GMB.
Piers Morgan calling Meghan Markle a “liar”
Morgan centered his latest criticism on Markle’s 2021 revelation to Oprah Winfrey that she struggled with suicidal ideation during her time as a working royal.
Markle alleged that she asked a senior palace aide for mental health assistance and was denied – a claim that Morgan openly doubted on-air following the interview’s premiere.
According to Morgan, Markle has yet to provide evidence or further details to corroborate her account over two years later.
He also noted that Prince Harry does not mention his wife’s suicidal thoughts in his recent memoir Spare despite dedicating over 400 pages to royal life.
“I think she’s a liar,” Morgan concluded, “and I think he, unfortunately, is a liar too.”
The TV host went on to blame Markle herself for the loss of his position at ITV, stating that his skeptical response to her mental health claims is what ultimately led to his departure.
Morgan argued that the royal family has “had to deal with being accused of being callous racists” due to the Oprah interview.
By doubling down on his previous remarks, Morgan has reignited the debate around the Duchess of Sussex’s revelations.
While mental health advocates argue that dismissing such accounts can deter others from seeking help, the former GMB host remains steadfast that inconsistencies in Markle’s story justify his stance.
