King Charles III, is not the only one to star in controversial behaviors that generate hundreds of comments on social networks. The younger brother of the King of England, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, has also made some headlines recently.
The youngest son of Elizabeth II, he went with his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex, to thank the public for their affection after the death of his mother. However, the Earl, who is likely to inherit the title of Duke of Edinburgh, had a gesture that was not to the liking of many.
Why doesn’t Prince Edward shake hands with people outside Windsor Castle?
Edward and Sophia left Buckingham Palace to observe the hundreds of floral tributes, balloons and cards left outside Windsor Castle in honor of the Queen.
Other royals approached the crowd and shook hands with those present and shared some messages. However, Edward refused to approach the crowd.
He apparently made that decision because of the number of people present at the venue. “I’d love to, but have you seen how many people are here, they would fall over!” he was heard saying.
The brother of King Charles simply folded his hands in thanks.
His behavior contrasts with the meeting he had with his wife outside Manchester Cathedral, during a visit to that British town on September 15, 2022. On that occasion, Edward was very attentive to people and shook hands more than once.
