A Spanish media outlet has caused a stir by reporting on the unusual relationship between Prince Harry and the Infanta Sofia, daughter of King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain.
The Infanta, who is only 16 years old, has been the subject of comparisons to the Duke of Sussex, who has spoken openly about feeling like “the spare part” in the British royal family.
Comparisons between Prince Harry and Infanta Sofia
Comparisons between the Duke of Sussex and Sofia lie mainly in their place in the line of succession to the throne.
At birth, Harry was third in line to the throne, the same position Sofia currently holds, and therefore many associate her with being Princess Leonor’s replacement, which has caused some controversy.
Unlike Harry, Sofia’s situation is different in many ways.
As reported in Ok Diario, there are no notable differences between the two sisters in terms of the treatment they receive from Zarzuela.
Both have received the same education and treatment at the institutional level.
Although Sofia was a little jealous of her older sister as a little girl, their parents tried to break down any kind of barrier between them to create a special bond.
In fact, it is said that the Infanta is Princess Leonor’s biggest supporter and they always look out for each other, as can be seen in their public appearances.
In terms of education, Sofia has received the same training as her older sister and could easily assume her role in the Spanish monarchy if necessary.
It is not yet known whether the Infanta Sofia will attend the military academies, as Princess Leonor currently does.
Although comparisons have been made between the Infanta Sofia and Prince Harry, the situation of the princesses of Spain is very different from that of the Duke of Sussex.
Although Sofia is not destined to inherit the crown, she has received the same training as Leonor, which ensures that she is prepared to assume her role should the situation require it.
