One of the most anticipated images was that of Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and their children Lilibet and Archie with Queen Elizabeth, but everything seems to indicate that, if that image was captured, it will be the royal family in charge of disseminating it because the Sussexes are in the United States.
The couple’s appearances at Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, events to which they were invited not as active members of the monarchy but as part of the family, were brief and few and far between. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in England last Wednesday, June 1, and on Thursday, June 4, they were seen for the first time at an event more than two years after their resignation.

The first appearance was a brief one at Buckingham Palace where members of the first order family came out to salute for the Trooping The Colour parade. That is; Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Camilla of Cornwall, Prince William, his wife Kate and the couple’s three children George, Charlotte and Louis. The Sussexes were seen in one of the windows and then chatting with the Duke of Kent.
Meghan and Prince Harry at St. Paul’s Cathedral
Later on Friday the couple attended the Thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London and it was at this event where they tested their mettle.
Meghan, visibly nervous and tense, made her entrance without letting go of Prince Harry’s hand, the couple faced the family that months earlier had criticized on Oprah’s program and which claimed that some members were racist. The crowd outside the temple had adverse reactions, some applauded and others booed.
The British press was not very kind to them either. For example, after her appearance in church, they assured that the Duchess of Sussex chose to wear white “as an attempt to appear innocent”.
Birthday of Harry and Meghan’s daughter
After that event neither Meghan, nor Harry, much less their children, appeared in public again. The Sussexes chose to decline any appearance. In fact, they accompanied the Queen at Windsor Castle to follow on television the concert to celebrate the jubilee.
The only separate event was the first birthday of their daughter Lilibet Diana, which was celebrated with a small party organized at Frogmore Cottage, where they were staying.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a hurry to return to the United States
According to the press, Meghan and Harry no longer wanted to be on British soil and such was the rush that, according to the Daily Mail, at six o’clock in the evening, local time, on Sunday the couple had already set course for California.
For its part, The Sun newspaper revealed that the trip of the couple would have cost almost 188,000 euros. A price that is not clear if it came out of the Queen’s pocket or theirs. It is also uncertain whether this first trip of the couple with their children opens the possibility of new meetings and rapprochements with the royal family.
