Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have officially begun their visit to Colombia, where they were warmly welcomed by Vice President Francia Márquez.
The first images from their four-day tour show a heartfelt embrace between Meghan and Márquez, symbolizing the friendly and collaborative nature of their visit.
Meghan and Harry Begin Their Visit to Colombia
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex arrived in Bogotá, where they were greeted not only by the vice president but also by her husband.
Their meeting started on a warm note as the couple was invited to Márquez’s residence for a casual gathering, where they enjoyed coffee, tea, and traditional Colombian cheese bread.
During this time, they exchanged thoughtful gifts, further cementing the positive atmosphere of their visit.
Harry and Meghan’s stop at the residence was brief, lasting about half an hour, but it was filled with meaningful conversations.
Márquez expressed her deep appreciation for their visit, emphasizing the shared commitment to creating a better and safer digital future, as well as improving mental health for children worldwide.
The royal couple’s tour of Colombia comes at the invitation of Vice President Francia Márquez, who had been inspired by Meghan Markle’s personal journey.
Márquez revealed that she first learned about Meghan and Harry’s story through their Netflix series, which moved her deeply. This connection led to the invitation for the Sussexes to explore several cities in Colombia and share their experiences.
The vice president also noted that last year, on July 25th, during a meeting focused on Afro-descendant women, they had initially wanted Meghan to join them.
Although Meghan was unable to attend that event, she expressed a strong desire to visit Colombia, which ultimately led to the planning of this tour.
Márquez and her team have been working for over a year to make this visit a reality.
The tour is scheduled to continue until Sunday, with the couple engaging in various activities.
