A couple of days ago it became known that Prince Harry would attend the coronation of his father, King Charles III. Although it has been said that there were many conversations to convince him in reality behind that decision there is something more important.
Buckingham Palace confirmed that the Duke of Sussex would attend only the ceremony to be held at Westminster Abbey on May 6, 2023. Now, a few days after that news the real reasons for being at the coronation come to light.
Prince Harry at Charles’ coronation
According to the British newspaper The Sun, Harry’s participation in the coronation would have a background beyond that of improving relations with his family. The media highlights that, apparently, the prince is aware that his celebrity status in the United States is closely linked to his connection with the royal family.
A Netflix source revealed, “Harry will return for all the right reasons, but there was a palpable sigh of relief among those of us involved in the business because the ‘Sussex’ brand is confident Harry will be seen with his family.”
“The images of the coronation will be instantly iconic. Harry will be in those photographs and, from a commercial perspective, you can’t put a price on that,” says the same source.
On his part, a Walt Disney Studios executive believes the Sussexes are in danger of becoming “irrelevant” if Harry does not maintain ties with the royal family. While Eric Schiffer, a public relations expert, explains that Harry’s attendance at the royal event is a “smart move.”
“Being missing in action at a major family event dilutes his brand,” said the expert, who also adds that Meghan’s presence is not as relevant as Harry’s.
