Prince Harry, 39, marked a milestone in his journey as a mental health advocate with his recent participation in BetterUp’s Uplift Summit on April 10 this year.
The two-day conference, held in Northern California just a short drive from his Montecito residence, brought together leaders and experts in the field of emotional wellness and personal development.
Prince Harry’s presence at the event not only highlights his first formal engagement since the announcement of Kate Middleton’s cancer treatment, but also reinforces his role as a leader in promoting mental health.
The Princess of Wales, who shared her diagnosis in an emotional video message on March 22, has been an example of strength and transparency.
Prince Harry at the BetterUp Uplift Summit
Since 2021, Prince Harry has served as BetterUp’s first Impact Director, a position he took on after deciding to step away from his royal duties alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, and settle in the United States.
His role at BetterUp has been instrumental in driving initiatives that promote mental health care and emotional support.
At the Uplift Summit, the Duke was joined by a number of high-profile speakers, including Brené Brown and Mindy Kaling, who was a guest on Meghan’s Archetypes podcast.
Also in attendance were Tracee Ellis Ross and authors James Clear and Adam Grant.
Leaders from organizations ranging from Google to the U.S. Air Force, as well as scientists from BetterUp, shared their insights and experiences, according to People magazine.
The session, titled “Beyond Burnout: Transforming C-Level Stress Into Strength” was one of the conference’s focal points, addressing how leaders can manage the unique pressures of their roles, develop resilience, and foster a culture that supports sustainable performance.
Prince Harry joined other leaders in exploring the psychological toll of leading in uncertain times, sharing personal anecdotes, evidence-based practices and progressive strategies to help leaders thrive in today’s world and modern business.
In his previous appearance at the Uplift Summit, Prince Harry spoke about the motivations that drive his purpose, highlighting the importance of being part of a team with a shared mission.
He also reflected on his experience in the British Army and his work with the Archewell Foundation, which he founded with Meghan.
The youngest son of King Charles was named the first impact director of the startup BetterUp in March 2021.
He was hailed as a natural addition to the leadership team, as he has long been an advocate for improving mental fitness.
The Duke of Sussex remains a fierce advocate for mental health and has previously revealed that he has used BetterUp’s resources himself, demonstrating his personal commitment to the cause it promotes.
