Prince Harry’s alleged former mistress applauds the Duke for moving to the U.S. to live his life with Meghan Markle.
Catherine Ommanney, 50, said she had a brief “fling” with the Prince in 2006 and revealed in a new interview with OK! that he and the Duchess seem “very happy together.”
“I’m very proud that Harry had the courage to move to America and I think he really needed it, to be free at last,” said Ommanney, a mother of three and star of Real Housewives of DC in 2010.
The London-born Bravo actress said she had “nothing but respect” for Markle and had previously revealed in interviews that Harry, now 38, longed for a life outside the royal spotlight.
Last month, Ommanney told The Sun of her “relationship” with the prince, then 21, and recalled their whirlwind romance at the age of 34. As the publication date of Harry’s memoir approached, she revealed striking details about their relationship.
“I doubt it will be in Harry’s book, because a prince can’t elope with a 34-year-old mother of two,” she told The Sun. “It’s not appropriate.”
At the time, Ommanney had separated from her ex-husband and Harry was in a relationship with his ex Chelsy Davy, one of the few former partners featured in his book of revelations.
According to Ommanney, the two met at the Art Bar in London and then went for a drink at a friend’s house, where they had the “most incredible and passionate kiss” of their lives.
“Without wanting to be arrogant, I think we both liked each other, although he was too young for me, If he wasn’t a king and maybe 10 years older, he’d be my perfect man”.
The duke’s highly anticipated book, titled Spare, will hit shelves on January 10 and will contain 416 pages of never-before-told stories about Harry’s experiences, Meghan’s controversial decision to leave the royal family and her difficult relationship with her brother.
Netflix’s highly anticipated documentary on the couple, which will be released in two parts on Dec. 8 and Dec. 15, will also highlight their “high-profile love story.” The trailer, released earlier this month, shows an aggressive paparazzi bombarding the couple and a distraught – and pregnant – Meghan reduced to tears by the stress of the royal wedding.
Several people in the trailer claim there has been a “war” on Meghan – fueled by “hate” and “race” – and that stories have been “spread” about her.
