Members of the Royal Family have many important titles that link them to centuries of history.

When Meghan Markle married Prince Harry in May 2018, she became the Duchess of Sussex, the Countess of Dumbarton, and Baroness Kilkeel.

Recently, there has been a lot of debate about whether Harry and Meghan should keep using their Duke and Duchess titles since they are no longer working royals.

If Meghan were to lose her Duchess title, she could use another, but it might confuse many people, according to a leading royal expert.

Ingrid Seward, Editor in Chief of Majesty Magazine, shared her thoughts on The Royal Beat. She believes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will likely keep their titles.

The Expert he explained that if they lose their titles, Harry is still a prince by blood, and Meghan would then be known as Princess Henry, which could confuse Americans.

Seward thinks it’s best to leave the titles as they are to avoid unnecessary changes that could seem unkind. Added that since the Queen gave them their titles, they should keep them.

She suggested it’s better to leave Harry and Meghan alone and let them live their lives, which is what the Palace and the Royal Family seem to be doing.

When Prince Harry was born in 1984, King Charles and Diana named him Prince Henry Charles Albert David, but he was known as ‘Harry.’ By marrying a prince, Meghan can use a princess title but only with her husband’s name.

This is similar to the Princess of Wales, who is technically Princess William, as well as the Duchess of Cambridge, the Countess of Strathearn, and Baroness Carrickfergus.

Last year, Harry and Meghan decided not to deny their children their birthright, confirming they would be known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Before this decision, there was much discussion about Archie’s title.

Traditionally, Archie could have been styled using his father’s subsidiary title, the Earl of Dumbarton.

However, according to The Telegraph, Harry and Meghan didn’t want their son to have a title that started with ‘dumb,’ as they were worried about how it might be perceived.

The report stated that both Meghan and Harry were concerned about this.
