Prince Harry spoke again. This time it was with the BBC and did not dodge the difficult issues.
The relationship with his father, King Charles III, is still broken. He said he would love for things to improve, but at the moment they don’t even talk to each other.
Prince Harry’s BBC Interview
“Love a reconciliation,” was the phrase. But she added something that hurt more: her father doesn’t answer to her for the whole mess with his security in the UK.
Harry has just lost the legal appeal with which he was trying to recover the protection financed with public money.
Since he left his royal duties and moved to the United States with Meghan Markle, the deal changed. The court said it was not appropriate to keep that benefit for him.
The decision was a blow. Not so much for the loss itself, but for what it means. Harry feels there are people behind that outcome who are comfortable with seeing him lose. “I’m devastated,” he said.
But not by the failure, but by those who caused it. He wondered if for them this was a victory. He suspects the family had something to do with it.
He also admitted that he doesn’t see it possible to return to the UK with Meghan and her children. Not in this scenario. He said this with resignation, but without closing himself off entirely.
He spoke of his father with a mixture of frustration and concern. Charles is facing a serious illness, and Harry fears there is not much time left to sort things out.
He acknowledged that there were many fights within the family, but that he has forgiven. He wants to put the conflicts behind him. “Life is precious,” he summed up. There is no point in fighting anymore.
The Royal House did not want to go into details. It merely recalled that the courts have already reviewed this issue several times and always came to the same conclusion.
The truth is that the distance between Harry and the Windsors seems increasingly difficult to bridge.
