After much commentary and speculation about Prince Harry’s possible return to the UK, more details have emerged.
According to reports in the British press, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry may be looking to improve their relationship with the British royal family.
There is even talk of Harry renting a house in England to spend more time with his father and possibly play a role in King Charles’ reign.
What will Prince Harry’s return to the UK be like?
Since moving to the United States, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s primary residence has been in California, so renting a house in the palace would make sense for them.
The British newspaper Express reported that Buckingham Palace has responded to claims that talks are allegedly underway to give Harry and Meghan a new royal home.
According to the Sunday Times, the Sussexes are being considered for accommodation at Kensington Palace.
According to royal expert Duncan Larcombe, this would be a grand gesture on Harry and Meghan’s part to rebuild their relationship with the rest of the royal family.
“After losing Frogmore, they need a base in the UK, and it’s likely this will be an occasional home and somewhere for them to stay when they’re here rather than anything permanent,” Larcombe continued. “But this is a clear sign that they are trying to make amends with the rest of the family.”
However, when Harry traveled to England in early September, he had to stay in a hotel because he was denied the opportunity to stay in one of the royal residences.
One of the alleged reasons was that Harry announced his visit too late, and to stay in an official residence, advance notice is required.
The British media reports that King Charles has decided to keep his youngest son as one of his Counsellors of State, and the laws state that those chosen for this role must be British residents.
However, despite reports and expert opinions, Buckingham Palace has denied all claims.
But there is one detail to keep in mind, and that is King Charles has retained Harry as an advisor, and this important royal role means that the Duke of Sussex can stand in for the monarch if he is abroad or ill.
Harry’s possible return to the UK raises many unknowns, but there seems to be a mutual interest in improving family relations.
