Prince William was in Paris this weekend to attend the exciting reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral.
After more than five years of closure due to a devastating fire, the iconic temple reopened its doors, and the ceremony was quite an event.
On Saturday, December 7, political leaders, royals, and socialites gathered at the cathedral.
Although William arrived alone, without Kate Middleton, he managed to grab all the attention. One of the most talked-about moments was his meeting with Donald Trump.
Prince William and Donald Trump
After the ceremony, the Prince of Wales and the President of the United States met at the British Ambassador’s residence in Paris.
This was the first face-to-face meeting between William and Trump since the U.S. presidential election, and the president was unstinting in his praise for the duke, describing him as a good man doing a fantastic job.
The meeting, which lasted about forty minutes, focused on UK-US relations, and Trump also took the opportunity to fondly remember the late Queen Elizabeth II.
Of course, the meeting did not go unnoticed on social media, and many could not help but mention how Prince Harry would not be amused to see his brother with Trump.
The relationship between Harry, William, and Trump is a contentious issue; while Harry has had run-ins with both, his relationship with William is known to be going through a rough patch.
The President of the United States has lashed out on more than one occasion against the Duke of Sussex and has even made known his desire for him not to live in the United States.
Now that he has returned to the White House, this topic is being widely discussed, as with the power he has, he could make the son of King Charles leave the country and have to live elsewhere.
It is inevitable to think about how Prince Harry will take this meeting that would only widen the gap with his brother.
Prince William at Notre Dame
Before their private chat, William and Trump had already exchanged a warm greeting at Notre Dame, where they also met the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, other leaders such as the President of Ukraine, Zelensky, and several celebrities, such as Elon Musk and Salma Hayek.
Undoubtedly, this trip to Paris left much to talk about, especially regarding family relationships in royalty and politics.
