The friendship of the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, 41, and Rose Hanbury, 38, ended since the publication of the compromising photos showing the Marchioness of Cholmondeley and Prince William, 40, allegedly kissing. However, the two women share more than just rumors of infidelity.
Between Kate Middleton and Rose Hanbury there is a bond that unites them and it is the charity projects they share.
Rose Hanbury and Kate Middleton
The friendship of both women began since Kate married Prince William. They and other aristocrats formed a group called the “Turnip Toffs”, as they have been labeled by the British press.
The group is or was made up mostly of aristocratic millionaires with estates in Norfolk, where the Prince and Princess of Wales lived before moving to Windsor. The Marchioness of Cholmondeley was one of the pillars group until Kate deleted her from the list after infidelity scares went off in 2019.
As part of her charity work, Kate Middleton serves as royal patron at East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, an organization that provides care and support for children and young people with life-threatening conditions.
Rose Hanbury is also part of the same organization, but her work is as a patron. Prince William’s alleged lover protects and helps those who benefit from the work of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices. The institution, moreover, has ambassadors such as the singer Ed Sheeran.
Indeed, it was at an East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices charity gala that the widely known photographs were taken of the Prince and Princess of Wales with Rose Hanbury and her husband the 7th Marquess of Cholmondeley at the Marquise’s official residence, the impressive Houghton Hall estate.
Three years after that gala, the alleged extramarital affair between Prince William and Rose Hanbury was first discussed. By that time it was such a stir that, although the royal family tends to completely ignore the controversy, the heir himself had to deny the information.
“In addition to being false and damaging, the publication of the false speculation regarding the private life of our client also constitutes a violation of his privacy, in accordance with Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights,” said part of the document published by William’s lawyers.
At the moment it is unknown if after the infidelity scandals, Rose withdrew from the charity work she shared with the Princess of Wales.
