After weeks of speculation surrounding the health of his wife, the Princess of Wales, Prince William made a return to the public eye, appearing at the iconic Oval cricket stadium.
The highly anticipated event marked her first public appearance after the palace addressed the “social media madness” and rumors circulating about Kate’s health status following the leak of her photo with her mother.

The occasion for Prince William’s visit was a significant one – to celebrate the success of Notpla, a company that won the Earthshot Prize’s “Build a Waste-Free World” category in 2022.
As the founder of the prestigious Earthshot Prize, which recognizes and supports projects aimed at repairing the planet, the Prince joined Pierre Paslier, co-founder and co-chief executive officer of Notpla, to learn about the company’s groundbreaking multi-million-pound deal.
Notpla’s seaweed-based products have secured a contract with Levy, a leading sports and entertainment caterer, to provide sustainable packaging for use in over 50 venues, including the Oval, Wimbledon’s All England Lawn Tennis Club, and London’s O2 Arena.
This partnership is a significant step towards achieving ambitious climate targets and promoting eco-friendly practices in the sports industry.
Prince William’s visit to the Oval held particular significance as the Duke of Cornwall, a title that makes him the landlord of the cricket ground, which is part of the Duchy of Cornwall’s portfolio.
Embracing this role, he took the opportunity to tour the iconic venue, meeting with Surrey cricketers preparing for the upcoming season and the dedicated ground staff responsible for maintaining the pristine playing conditions.
With a warm smile and a gracious greeting, Prince William served to reassure the public, quelling unfounded rumors surrounding his wife’s health.
Focused on promoting environmentally friendly practices in the sports industry, Prince William marks an important milestone in his ongoing efforts to create a greener and more sustainable future for generations to come.
