On Wednesday, October 30 and Thursday, October 31, a two-part documentary starring Prince William will premiere on ITV1 and ITVX. Entitled “Prince William: We Can End Homelessness!”
The documentary focuses on the first year of the ‘Homewards’ program, a five-year initiative that the son of the late Lady Di has launched with The Royal Foundation.
This project aims to tackle homelessness, an issue that has been an ongoing concern for William for some time.
In the documentary, Prince William shares a very personal experience. He recalls how his mother, Diana of Wales, took him and his brother Harry to a homeless shelter in London when they were children.
Through unpublished photographs, viewers will be able to see William enjoying that experience, even playing chess with a homeless man, while his mother was engaged in handing out gifts to those who lived there.
According to British media reports, the filming of this documentary began in June last year, just as William launched his ‘Homewards’ project, focused on eradicating homelessness in six regions of the UK.
Prince William’s confession
One of William’s most shocking statements was: “My mother took me to The Passage; she took Harry and I both there. I must have been 11 at the time, maybe 10. I had never been to anything like that before, and I was a bit anxious about what to expect. My mother went about her usual, making everyone feel relaxed, having a laugh and joking with everyone,” he says. “I remember at the time kind of thinking, ‘Well, if everyone doesn’t have a home, they’re all going to be really sad.’ But it was incredible how happy an environment it was.”
This documentary marks a milestone, as until now, William had not mentioned his brother Harry in public since 2018, either in speeches or interviews.
In addition, the documentary includes an old photograph of the two brothers together at the retreat in 1993, a memory that resonates with the idea of their connection.
The inclusion of these shared moments, however subtly, has led many royal experts to speculate about a possible rapprochement between the two brothers.
Some believe this gesture could represent a first step toward reconciliation, suggesting that Prince William is open to re-establishing a relationship with Harry.
