It has been nearly a year since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, Britain’s beloved monarch of over 70 years. In her absence, a transformation appears to be taking shape in terms of public opinion towards the royal family.
A comprehensive poll conducted by the reputable research firm YouGov has provided illuminating data on where exactly British sentiments lie today regarding the monarchy and its key figures.
Surveying over 2000 citizens across the UK, the results paint a vivid picture of the evolving landscape.
Prince William’s approval rating
At the forefront remains the heir to the throne, Prince William, who emerges as the most popular royal by a significant margin.
Nearly three-quarters of respondents 74% view the Prince of Wales favorably, compared to only 20% with a negative opinion.
This speaks volumes about his standing, especially given William’s recent missteps that seemed poised to dent his reputation.
British Royal Family Approval Rating
Yet William is closely trailed by his aunt, Princess Anne, who claims the second spot with nearly equal support at 73%.
Also performing strongly is Kate Middleton at 72%, marking the Wales and the Princess Royal as the monarchy’s stable pillars looking ahead.
The new monarch King Charles III places fourth in popularity at 60%, respectable but far behind his predecessor’s towering legacy.
Rounding off the top five is Prince Edward at 54%, followed by Queen Camilla’s mixed result of 47% positive and 42% negative perceptions.
From there, attitudes turn decisively sour towards the disgraced Prince Andrew at a miserable 6%, unsurprising given his ignominious fall from grace.
Likewise, exiled royals Meghan and Harry trail far behind, garnering only 24% and 31% favorability respectively.
British monarchy approval rating
Yet the monarchy itself remains cherished by a majority of Britons, with 61% supporting its continuance and 58% calling it beneficial for the UK.
Furthermore, 59% believe Charles has accurately stepped up to his royal duties.
