This Tuesday, January 9, Kate Middleton, the wife of Prince William, celebrated her 42nd birthday.
However, instead of receiving dozens of happy birthday messages, Prince William surprised everyone by posting a rather sad message.
Prince William’s sad message on Kate Middleton’s birthday
In a Twitter message, Prince William shared the sad passing of Welsh rugby legend JPR Williams, who died on Monday at the age of 74.
“There was no one like him on the rugby field. A true @WelshRugbyUnion great, my thoughts are with the family and friends of JPR Williams,” the future king of England wrote in English and Welsh.
Prince William’s message was not related to his wife’s birthday, but was a tribute to the late rugby player.
It should be noted that Prince William has been the royal vice-patron of rugby union since 2007 and was promoted to patron in 2016, taking over the position previously held by Queen Elizabeth.
The death of JPR Williams was announced by the Bridgend Ravens, the team he played for and served as club president until his death.
Williams was known for his bravery and his cloak-and-dagger style of attack, leaving a great legacy in the rugby world.
There was no one quite like him on the rugby field. A true @WelshRugbyUnion great, my thoughts are with JPR Williams’ family and friends. W.
