In the face of adversity, the bond between Prince William and Kate Middleton shines ever brighter.
During a recent engagement at a food redistribution charity, the Prince of Wales received a poignant reminder of his wife’s ongoing battle with cancer, prompting a heartwarming promise that resonated deeply with royal fans.
Prince William’s promise to Kate Middleton amid cancer battle
As Prince William visited Surplus to Supper, a charity that redistributes surplus food in Sunbury-on-Thames, he was presented with a thoughtful gesture that tugged at his heartstrings.
Rachel Candappa, a 71-year-old volunteer, handed him two “Get Well Soon” cards – one for his wife, Kate, and another for his father, King Charles III, both currently undergoing cancer treatment.
Visibly moved by the kind gesture, William expressed his gratitude, saying, “Thank you, you are very kind.”
Rachel then seized the opportunity to convey a heartfelt message, urging the Prince to “take care of her.” Without hesitation, William responded with a resolute promise: “I will.”
Rachel’s account of the interaction further revealed the warmth and down-to-earth nature of the Prince.
“I said, ‘Can I shake your hand?’ I loved it, he was very down to earth. I’m never washing my hand again,” she shared, recounting how William pointed to the food and playfully remarked, “That’s spaghetti hoops,” demonstrating his familiarity with the dish as a father.
This touching moment comes amidst a challenging time for the royal family, as Kate and King Charles bravely confront their respective battles with cancer.
Kate, who had previously undergone major abdominal surgery in January, revealed in a video message on March 22 that post-operative tests had led to the discovery of an undisclosed form of cancer, necessitating chemotherapy treatment.
Meanwhile, in a shocking revelation at the start of February, King Charles announced that he too is undergoing cancer treatment.
As Prince William lent a hand at the food distribution charity, chopping celery and loading boxes into delivery vans, his actions served as a testament to his commitment to not only supporting his wife but also championing causes that align with his Earthshot Prize initiative, which includes a category focused on building a waste-free world.
Surplus to Supper’s “in bellies not bins” ethos resonated deeply with William, as the charity redistributes over three tonnes of surplus food daily, thanks to the efforts of its 200 local volunteers, including Duke of Edinburgh Award students.
Amid their personal challenges, William’s heartfelt promise to “look after” his wife exemplifies the depth of their love and commitment to one another.
