After Prime Minister Rishi Sunak revealed this Wednesday, May 22, that the United Kingdom will hold elections on July 4 to choose the next government.

Buckingham Palace immediately announced that the Royal Family will delay any events.

Now it is announced that Prince William is set to attend the FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium this Saturday.

Kensington Palace confirmed that the Prince of Wales will join fans at the match between Manchester City and Manchester United, and he will present the trophy to the winning team.

This appearance follows the prince’s decision to cancel his engagements after the Prime Minister announced a general election.

Despite his royal responsibilities, Prince William remains a dedicated football fan and has supported Aston Villa all his life.

In 2006, Prince William took over the role of President of the Football Association from the Duke of York.

He recently sent a congratulatory message to Aston Villa after they qualified for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, expressing his excitement for the team’s historic achievement.

Royal aides have not confirmed whether William will attend the match with any of his three children—Prince George, Prince Louis, or Princess Charlotte.

Prince George, who shares his father’s love for Aston Villa, has been seen at their matches earlier this season.

However, the Princess of Wales is not expected to attend as she continues to receive chemotherapy treatment for cancer.

King Charles has also postponed his engagements for the rest of the week, following the Prime Minister’s announcement of the general election.

A Buckingham Palace spokesperson stated that the Royal Family will cancel engagements that might distract from the election campaign.

Apologies have been sent to those affected by the cancellations.
