Prince William, known for his deep passion for soccer, is embarking on an trip to Germany next week.
Kensington Palace confirmed on June 12 that the Prince of Wales will attend the UEFA EURO 2024 Group Stage match between England and Denmark on June 20.
Prince William’s Trip to Germany: UEFA EURO 2024
This trip to Germany marks Prince William’s second international engagement in just three weeks.
On June 6, he represented the British royal family at the 80th anniversary of the D-Day Landings in Normandy, France. He joined over 25 heads of state and veterans from around the world in a significant ceremony at Omaha Beach, commemorating the sacrifices made during the massive military campaign that changed the course of World War II.
This event, to be held at Frankfurt Arena, aligns perfectly with his role as president of the Football Association, the governing body of English soccer.
This visit follows closely on the heels of Prince William’s recent interaction with the England men’s soccer team. Just two days before the palace’s announcement, he visited St. George’s Park in Burton upon Trent on June 10.
There, he wished the team luck as they prepared for the UEFA EURO 2024 tournament, which is set to kick off in Germany on Friday. His visit included presenting jerseys to the players and offering words of encouragement to boost their morale.
Prince William also shared a charming anecdote involving his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
During the drive to school, he asked them for advice to pass on to the England team. The funniest piece of advice came from his youngest, Prince Louis, who suggested the team should “eat twice the amount you normally would eat!”
William humorously imagined the team running around with “massive great tummies” and advised them to take Louis’ tip with a grain of salt, especially when consulting their physiotherapists.
Prince William’s upcoming trip is his latest solo engagement, as his wife, Kate Middleton, remains out of the spotlight.
In March, the Princess of Wales announced that she is undergoing chemotherapy for cancer and has since maintained a low profile.
As Prince William heads to Germany, he carries the hopes and support of a nation with him. His visit is not just a display of royal duties but also to his genuine love for soccer and his commitment to supporting the national team.
